The work of Protein Industries Canada — to increase ingredient processing and food manufacturing capabilities in Canada — is not just about turning crops into food. It is about building a better Canada.
Through innovative technologies, we are creating new ingredients and food products that even two years ago did not exist. And while it is easy to focus on the new processing technology, the new ingredient or the new item on the grocery store shelf, there is much more to the story. Ours is a story of passion, innovation and a drive that we can change the course for Canadian agriculture. And in doing so, bring benefits across Canada to Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast through new economic opportunities. We also are enriching the lives of billions of people all over the world who look to Canada as a global leader and supplier of healthy and nutritious food.
At Protein Industries Canada, we are driven by the belief that we are playing an important role in fulfilling this destiny for Canada. That what we, and our members, are doing is truly transformational, and is key to Canada’s future. We are driven by a certainty that we are making the future better — whether that is through reduced GHG emissions, securing food for Canada and the world, or positioning Canada to be global economic powerhouse for generations to come. We are powered by the goal to build a better Canada.
The Government of Canada’s commitment to the Global Innovation Clusters through recapitalization in Budget 2022 is a testament to this. The renewed funding will allow us to continue our important work.
Canada put a stake in the ground with the creation of Protein Industries Canada and the Global Innovation Clusters. And the world noticed.
Our innovative companies are frequent players on the global stage. Our products are reaching commercialization and are making their way onto plates around the world. Our commitment to sustainability, combined with an abundance of resources and a talented workforce, are making Canada a preferred place for investment.
As we embark on the next phase of Protein Industries Canada, we once again can shine the national and international spotlight on Canada. We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us. One that will allow us to help the world, while also creating a better Canada.
