Event info
There is significant debate over what sustainability means and how it applies to Canadian agriculture and food. While many see much opportunity for the sector, others see significant threats. CAPI will convene thought leaders in dialogue and debate to explore if Canada should revamp its approach to improving economic and environmental outcomes and how it could do so.
With increasing tension around ‘sustainability’ and concern about the effectiveness and impact of Canada’s current approach to agri-environmental policy, there is a need to consider what a revamped policy approach could look like.
With changing markets, consumers and climate, the potential for unintended consequences is high.
The conference will consider whether Canada’s ag and environment policy is delivering meaningful, improved social, environmental or economic outcomes and whether a different approach is needed.
Key sessions include global perspectives, lessons from other sectors, the bumpy road to net-zero, changing political dynamics and their impact on the policy landscape, and the next steps.
