Launch of the Artificial Intelligence program

Through a $30 million commitment under the Government of Canada’s Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy (PCAIS), Protein Industries Canada launched a new stream of programming that will co-invest in collaborative projects that utilize artificial intelligence to help grow Canada’s plant-based food, feed and ingredients ecosystem efficiently and sustainably.

Alongside co-hosts Pulse Canada and Plant-Based Foods of Canada, Protein Industries Canada successfully hosted the first-annual Plant Forward with over 250 attendees, delegates from 11 countries, and multiple bi-lateral and B2B meetings.

Receiving the $150 million renewal

François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced a renewal of $150 million into Protein Industries Canada. The funding is part of the $750 million investment into the Global Innovation Cluster program announced as part of budget 2022.
Opening Fund II's first round of EOIs

Protein Industries Canada started accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for new technology leadership projects. This was the first call for projects under the new tranche of $150 million funding provided through the Government of Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster program.
