Protein Industries Canada's 2024 recipient of the Honorary Lifetime Membership was awarded to the Crop Development Centre (CDC) at the University of Saskatchewan. This award was presented at the 2024 Annual Conference & General Meeting in Saskatoon.

CDC members: Tom Warkentin (Ministry of Agriculture Strategic Research Program Chair in Field Pea and Soybean Crop Breeding and Genetics); Ana Vargas (Agri-Food Innovation Fund Chair, Lentil and Faba Bean); Marissa Janssen (Manager); Chris Willenborg (Department Head, Plant Sciences); Curtis Pozniak (Director) at Protein Industries Canada's 2024 Annual Conference & General Meeting in Saskatoon. The CDC was awarded in recognition of its early work in pulse breeding and in supporting the wide-spread adoption of pulses across Saskatchewan and beyond. Without this foundational work, Canada would not have the potential to be a global leader in plant-based ingredients, food and feed. It is the strength of the country's three-crop rotation that is one of Canada’s unique advantages as a supplier of sustainable and healthy food.
