A Message from CEO Tyler Groeneveld

As I step into the role of CEO at Protein Industries Canada, I’m excited to bring my experience, relationships, and passion for Canada’s agriculture and food sector to this incredible organization and its talented team. I believe deeply in the mission of Protein Industries Canada as a catalyst for innovation. I am confident we can create real economic growth for Canada by elevating collaboration and helping attract capital investment into ingredient and food production and agriculture.

Plant protein is in the DNA of Protein Industries Canada. Our foundation is built on Canada’s strength as a producer of high-protein, sustainable crops. Over the past few years, our journey has evolved beyond just protein to encompass broader plant-based innovation, ingredient processing and food manufacturing, focusing on whole seed utilization. This evolution is significant. It opens new opportunities for Canada’s agriculture and food industries to grow, compete and lead globally.

With a new federal government and growing trade and tariff tensions, Canada and our agriculture industry face both an opportunity and a challenge. As a nation, it’s time to elevate food production and agriculture to the status of a national priority. I believe deeply that this sector can deliver faster and more tangible returns for Canadians than almost any other, and that it can be a cornerstone of our nation’s economic future.

By investing in this foundational and increasingly important sector, Canada can stabilize and elevate its own food supply chain while producing the ingredients the world needs. By focusing on value-added processing, we can create a stable domestic food supply chain, create new jobs and bring resilient economic growth for all of Canada.

Protein Industries Canada already has a strong voice at home and abroad, and our reputation for collaboration runs deep. Together with our members, partners, and government colleagues, we are building the relationships and initiatives that will help Canada realize its full potential in ingredient processing and food manufacturing.

Over the next few months, you’ll hear more about how Protein Industries Canada is leading this important conversation. It will take focus, collaboration and deliberate action, but the opportunity ahead of us is tremendous.
