Call for nominations: join the Board of Directors of Protein Industries Canada

Posted:

Protein Industries Canada is currently seeking nominations for positions on our Board of Directors. We invite passionate, purpose-driven leaders from across Canada to consider putting their name forward—or to nominate someone who fits this vision. This role represents a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Canada’s food production and value-added agriculture sector—an industry poised for transformative growth.

In 2026, six Director positions are available for election, each for a three-year term. Of these, two incumbent Directors are eligible for re-election and have agreed to stand for a second term. Therefore, we are recruiting four new Directors.

As we enter the next phase of our journey and seize Canada’s Make It Here opportunity, Protein Industries Canada is seeking experienced directors who understand the responsibilities of governing a national, industry-led organization with a significant public-interest mandate, substantial financial stewardship responsibilities, and a commitment to strong governance, fiduciary oversight and strategic discipline.

Ideal candidates will bring demonstrated experience as board directors, with the ability to provide independent oversight, contribute to long-term strategy, steward financial and organizational risk, and support effective executive performance oversight. A governance designation, such as ICD.D, C. Dir. or an equivalent director education credential, would be an asset, as would a CPA designation or other relevant financial certification.

In addition to strong governance experience and/or financial acumen, we are looking for candidates who can bring one or more of the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience as a Canadian grower and business owner; and/or
  • Expertise in Canadian food manufacturing; and/or
  • Experience as an investor in growth-stage companies, private equity, infrastructure or other forms of institutional/private capital; and/or
  • Government relations or corporate affairs experience in Canada.

Candidates should be respected leaders who are vested in the long-term growth and success of Canada’s food production and value-added agriculture sector. Candidates from diverse backgrounds, passionate about strengthening Canada’s economy, who bring governance, financial, investment, government relations or strategic experience are also encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will play a key role in advancing Protein Industries Canada’s mandate and strengthening its position as a national leader in innovation, sustainability and economic development.

The slate of independent and industry candidates presented by the Governance & Nominating Committee will be approved by the membership at our Annual General Meeting session of Plant Forward on the Prairies in Saskatoon on September 22, 2026.

Nominations are now open and will close on July 31, 2026.
