Protein Industries Canada releases new Protein Processing Facility Assessment summary

As part of its commitment to growing the ingredient manufacturing, food processing and bioproducts ecosystem, Protein Industries Canada recently contracted an assessment of the infrastructure needs of the sector.

The assessment identified a gap related to pilot-plant-scale facilities and pre-commercial toll manufacturing, and outlined recommendations for how to address the gap in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.

These recommendations include the establishment of a new PSUF facility, collaboration between industry, academic institutions and government, and programming to develop qualified personnel. It is anticipated the costs to establish and run the facility would be split between government and industry.
