Make It Here opportunity gaining momentum

Momentum continues to build behind Make It Here, Protein Industries Canada’s national call to action to strengthen Canada’s production economy by scaling food and ingredient manufacturing at home.

Make It Here national dialogue tour in Winnipeg

With our Hill Week approaching (May 4–7), the campaign is entering an important phase of engagement in Ottawa. This is a key opportunity to connect directly with parliamentarians and officials across government to reinforce a clear message: Canada grows world-class crops—we should be processing more of them here at home.

Over the past month, we’ve been on the road connecting with many of you—and the message was clear: we’re on the same page about where this is going.

We heard you when you told us:

  • The opportunity extends beyond plant protein to food and ingredient manufacturing more broadly, including fibre, starch, and oils.
  • Value-added agriculture must be treated as a national priority.
  • The sector needs better access to capital, modernized policy, and more competitive regulatory frameworks.
  • This must be a truly national effort, spanning the full value chain.
  • Canada needs more domestic infrastructure, from co-manufacturing to large-scale processing facilities.

Much of this reinforces what we’ve been saying, and that alignment matters. It strengthens the case we’re bringing to Ottawa and underscores that this is not just an industry conversation, but a national economic opportunity.

As we head into our Hill Week, our collective voice will be more important than ever. Please help us spread the word that Canada need to Make It Here.
