                Goal

                        Bridge the gap between Manitoba's protein research and processing sectors by developing a publicly available asset map detailing the research expertise and infrastructure in relation to sustainable protein-related activities in the province of Manitoba, serving as a pilot for eventual expansion across Canada.

                Project Summary

                        This project builds on an existing publicly available asset map that details the research expertise and infrastructure in relation to sustainable protein-related activities in the Province of Manitoba.
The University of Manitoba and the Enterprise Machine Intelligence and Learning Initiative have built and enhanced the site to include not only Manitoba-based, but Canada-wide information on research expertise and infrastructure in digital agriculture and sustainable protein, such as research capacity and assets.
The Network exists to
- Fill the lack of knowledge about existing expertise, infrastructure and research capacity within Manitoba and across Canada;
- Ensure that people across the sustainable protein ecosystem have a solid understanding of the different players involved in this space; and
- Explore the potential for connectivity by fostering connections between researchers, industry, companies and government.

                Results and impact

                        - The partners created the Canadian Agri-Food Assets (CAFA) map, a public-facing web database to foster collaboration and innovation in Canada’s sustainable protein and digital agriculture sectors for years to come.
- This project has greatly assisted The Manitoba Protein Research Strategy in positioning Canada, but Manitoba in particular, as a hub for high-quality research and innovation in the sustainable protein sector.
