Goal

Develop an AI-powered decision support system to help farmers and agronomists better manage Ascochyta Blight in chickpeas and field peas

Project Summary

This project targets the issue of Ascochyta Blight in chickpeas and field peas across Western Canada by developing AI-powered disease forecasting models and end-to-end decision-making support systems to help farmers and agronomists manage and address this disease more effectively. TerraVision306—the new public-facing brand of Ukko Agro—is building on the success of Ukko Agro's previous Protein Industries Canada project and leveraging existing infrastructure like the Foresight platform, Metos Canada’s weather infrastructure and data acquisition capabilities, and Rocky Mountain Equipment’s reach in the prairies to commercialize and test the system’s capabilities to rapidly execute the project within a relatively short time period.

The project has the potential to transform from a largely labour-intensive method that is costly and unsustainable due to excessive spraying and pathogen resistance development to a more intelligent and predictive system that can drive productivity and sustainability.
